dental treatments

Healthy teeth, happy pets

Maintaining your pets dental health is crucial for their overall well being, to prevent discomfort, infection and other health issues. Regular brushing, dental chews and check ups are key to a  good pet dental care routine.

Whether it’s bad breath, sore gums or something more serious, we’ll give your pet the expert care they need and help you stay on top of their oral health at home too.

Why dental health matters

Dental problems are one of the most common (and often overlooked) issues in pets. Left untreated, they can lead to chronic pain, tooth loss, and even problems with the heart, liver or kidneys.

Regular dental care helps to:

  • Prevent gum disease, tartar and plaque build-up

  • Avoid bad breath and oral discomfort

  • Spot issues early before they become serious

  • Support overall health and wellbeing

  • Keep your pet happy, healthy and eating comfortably

    • Advice on home care and brushing techniques

  • Yes, most pets will have some form of dental disease by the age of 3. Regular check-ups and cleaning help prevent pain and more serious health issues.

  • Common signs include bad breath, red or bleeding gums, difficulty eating, drooling, pawing at the mouth, or visible tartar on the teeth.

  • Yes. To do a thorough job and keep your pet comfortable, a scale and polish is carried out under general anaesthetic. We’ll always assess your pet’s suitability first and explain everything clearly.

  • Regular brushing - Brushing your pets teeth daily or a few times a week with a doggy friendly tooth brush and tooth paste is essential to prevent plaque and tarter build up. Incorporating this into a puppies routine is a great way of getting them use to it!

  • Specially formulated and designed dental diets can help reduce the accumulation of plaque and tartar on your pets teeth. The way dental diets work is by the kibble usually being larger in size meaning your pet then takes time to chew and it creates an abrasive action on the tooth surface, helping to remove plaque and tartar from the teeth.

  • In some cases it may be necessary for pets to have a scale and polish if tartar build up can’t be removed by home care. Regular check ups can help spot a problem early and you can help them have a happier, healthier life with a bright smile!
