we’re here with answers and care that go deeper
Not every condition is visible on the outside. Internal medicine focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses affecting your pet’s internal organs, systems and overall health — from chronic disease to complex symptoms that don’t have an obvious cause.
At Fab Vets, we take the time to investigate thoroughly, treat thoughtfully, and support you and your pet every step of the way.
What does internal medicine cover?
Internal medicine helps us understand and manage conditions that affect:
The digestive system – e.g. vomiting, diarrhoea, IBD
The kidneys and liver – e.g. renal disease, liver dysfunction
The immune system – e.g. autoimmune conditions
The respiratory system – e.g. chronic coughing, bronchitis
The endocrine system – e.g. diabetes, thyroid issues, Cushing’s disease
The urinary tract – e.g. bladder infections, urinary incontinence
The pancreas – e.g. pancreatitis
The blood and bone marrow – e.g. anaemia, clotting disorders
We also support pets with multiple or ongoing health conditions, helping manage their care holistically over time.

Internal medicine goes deeper, it focuses on diagnosing complex, chronic or non-obvious conditions that may require advanced testing and long-term care.
-
Not always. We can investigate and manage many internal conditions here in practice. If a referral is needed, we’ll guide you through the process and work closely with specialists.
-
Many blood and urine tests give same-day results. More advanced tests may take a few days. We’ll always keep you updated and explain what to expect.
-
Some can, others can be managed long term. We’ll always give you a clear picture of what’s going on, and work with you to create a plan that suits your pet’s health and lifestyle.
